May Challenges

Happy Thursday all! Virginia Beach is so beautiful today, and I’m stuck inside at a conference!!

I wanted to share with you guys two challenges that I am doing for the month of May!

DietBet:
Have any of you heard of DietBet? From the website:

Our Mission

DietBetter is pioneering a whole new way to lose weight. We call it Social Dieting.
Our first product is a game called DietBet that transforms weight loss from a solitary chore into a fun community activity.

There’s money on the line but it isn’t about making money. It’s about believing in yourself, investing in your health, and sticking with your commitments.

It’s also about getting support. Although DietBets are competitions, they are never winner-take-all, so players end up helping each other. Your real world friends may not appreciate what you’re going through but your fellow dietbetters get it. That’s because they’re in it with you. They’ll inspire you and make you laugh. You’ll see the same message over and over: “You can do this.”

Losing weight is hard. But it’s so much easier when you’re in it together. Try social dieting and you’ll see for yourself. You’ll never go back to losing weight alone.

So, as my friends and my wonderful husband know, I’m all about social media! So to see this social dieting, I thought why not!

So you can choose either DietBet 4 or DietBet10 challenges. The 4 and 10 stand for percentages. When you find a group that you want, you place your bet. Whoever loses that much of their percentage in weight in the allotted time, splits the pot! That simple! There is a pretty good referee that you have to submit your weight to, so no one cheats!
So I am currently a part of No Guilt No Gut Challenge, hosted by one of my fav bloggers, Patty at No Guilt Life! If you haven’t followed her blog, please do! Again one of my favs! Anywho, I placed my bet of $20 and I have the whole month of May to lose 4% of my body weight. Here are my pictures and measurements I submitted (don’t judge too harshly!)

Totally not Sir Mix A Lot’s measurements! :p

Weight: 153 lbs
R.thigh: 25 inches
L.thigh: 25 inches
Waist: 31 inches
Hips: 42 inches
Chest: 33 inches
So, to lose 4% of my body weight, I will need to weigh 146.9 to win the challenge and get a split of the pot that is currently around $5300 with 266 players! I am excited and motivated cause I would like to at least get my $20 original bet back! And I would have lost weight as well! If you are interested, check out DietBet website and find a challenge you want to do!!

21 Day Fix:

21DayFix-whatYouGet_ibk3og.jpeg copy
Now, I’m sure most of you have heard of the extremely popular, just got out of back order status, Beachbodys 21 Day Fix by the beautiful Autumn Calabrese. I already LOVE this program! Here is a breakdown of the program:

Simple Eating-Your 21-day portion-control system

Forget about ounces, cups, and calories. When it comes to losing weight, simplicity equals success. These seven color-coded containers and Shakeology® shaker cup deliver exactly the right portions every time, so you never eat too much or too little. Fill them up with as much food as you want—if it fits, you can eat it!
Green—Vegetables
Purple—Fruit
Red—Protein
Yellow—Carbohydrates
Blue—Healthy Fats and Cheese
2 Orange—Seeds and Oils
Shakeology Shaker Cup—

Now, you calculate what your calorie range is, and that tells you how many of each containers you are allotted per day.

For me, I am in the 1,200 to 1,499 calorie range! That gives me 3 green (veggies) 2 purple (fruits), 4 Red (protein), 2 Yellow (starchy carbs), 1 Blue (nuts, ect) 1 Orange (nuts and dressings) 2 spoons (nut butters, olive oil).

Then, each container is broken down in the manual with a list of foods that you can eat. I love it because I can easily pick from each list and create a meal plan for the week. I love that the foods are listed in order of importance. So the higher on the list the foods are the more nutritionally sound they are! Of course you should have a variety of foods from the lists to give you variety of nutrients for your body.

I have not been eating out of the containers, but I measure and pour onto my plate. Surprisingly each time I do that I am amazed with how much food I am still eating.

You do get the option to drink milk, soy milk, almond milk, coconut water, coconut milk and fruit juices but you have to sub out a yellow container and you are only allowed them 3x per week! So it does make you re think your drink as well. I tend to forgo the almond milk in my shake so that I can have the carb later in the day to keep my energy level up! Also you can have a glass of wine but you give up a yellow container which is a carb for the day! Depending on the day, this is a FANTASTIC option!

How does Shakeology fit into this?? It is counted as a Red container which is a protein! 🙂 BONUS easy quick meal for me!

There are also treats allowed as well. They give you a list of treat ideas that replace a yellow container!

Recipes! There are a list of seasoning mixes that you can whip up to prepare your food with! There are container recipes for your veggies, protein and starchy carbs as well. I love the recipes for your shakeology and the home made dressing recipes!!!

I joined a challenge group with
my Beachbody coach for the month of May and submitted my same picture and measurements as above.
Now I have to be honest, even though I am in my first week, I have been great on the food portion, not on workout portion.
Why? We this girl broke out in hives AGAIN on Tuesday which essentially once again put workout out to a halt! Luckily, they were not as bad as a few weeks ago, but I learned from last time that the heat makes them welt up badly. As of this morning, most welts are gone, so I am hoping to get a workout in tomorrow morning and an easy run in as well, seeing as I still have an 8 miler to do on Sunday. Unfortunately, I am on a 9 day regimen of Prednisone, which is a steroid. If any of you have taken steroids, you know it’s not the greatest for weight lost as you retain water and have an insatiable appetite. I have had a few extra things to eat, but seeing as I started everything on Tuesday, I am currently down .8lbs so I’ll take it. I just have to mentally prepare that I may not see the results I am hoping for.
If you are interested in the 21 Day Fix, or any Beachbody products, please let me know!! ☺️

Are any of you in any fitness related challenges for the month on May?

  1. Haha, when I started reading this post I thought ” Yes, I have heard of Diet bet, my friend Patty is doing it”. Then I saw that you mentioned her! No fitness challenges here, unless you count our Running Scavenger hunt that kicks of on May 19.
