Weekend Recap

Hey everyone!! I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend! I know I did!!
My weekend started with the Surfs Up 5K at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront… And holy moly.. It was cold, rainy, and windy!!!!

So as I stood out there with my husband and his friend waiting, I could feel myself getting demotivated! We pretty much had to run 1.5 miles directly into the wind, then turn around and run it back. Oh well, I was here so I will just do my best!

Well, I didn’t realize by me saying doing my best, I would actually have my BEST run to date!! The first mile I was just trying to get my legs moving after feeling like I was frozen stuff. My husband and his friend took off, and I just kept my head down and run. I had water coming out from my eyes because of the wind. Then when I hit the mile mark and my Nike Running App told me my time was 08:56... WHAT?!? I felt like I was running so slow! Now I was pumped up! And what do you know? I had my first PR and my chip finish was 28:23!!!

To say I was shocked is an understatement! I was elated!! Plus, my husband was there for me at when I had about .15 miles left pushing me to get it done, and I just took off! I got my first ever race bling and had the best runners high ever!

Sorry for the cheesy grin!!

Afterwards, the hubby and I went to IHOP for some wonderful post race brunch food!

After all of that, I still had to take 8 beautiful Girl Scouts to spend their hard earned cookie money at Build a Bear! And let me tell you, Build a Bear, in the mall, on a Saturday afternoon… Holy crap!!

Sunday was Easter! I had to get up early to make some Ham sliders and a strawberry yogurt bundt cake as we were having brunch at our friends house! Of course the Easter bunny came (at 6:30am cause she forgot to do it the night before)!

At our friends house, our kids had an Easter egg hunt that totally resembled The Hunger Games!!

After that, we headed up to meet halfway and pick my stepdaughter up from Spring Break. It ended up being a late night and I was disappointed I didn’t get my long run of 6 miles in, but all in all, it was a great weekend for me!!

How was your holiday weekend? Do anything fun? How did you feel when you ran your first PR?!
